If dog breeds developed over hundreds of years to fulfill a specific need – to hunt for pray, pick up birds, pull sledges, guard property, search and rescue, etc.—it makes sense that labradoodles are becoming increasingly popular in recent years. In the Age of Anxiety, Australian labradoodles are what we need: a therapy dog. An upbeat dog who is full of energy to run and play outside and knows how to be quiet inside; a dog in sync with people’s feelings, who enjoys being trained, who wants to please. Sociable, huggable, intelligent, funny, and intuitive: this is modern-day man’s best friend.

About Us

Welcome! We are located in Fairfield County, Connecticut; our small program is a family business and we specialize on mini and small medium multi-generational Australian labradoodles.

A lot of thought and consideration  goes into selecting our breeding dogs and planning our litters. We test our dogs for genetic diseases like hip and elbow dysplasia, vonWillenbrand’s disease, PRA, and have their eyes examined every year. We also do a lot of other tests that helps us evaluate what would be the best breeding pair combination for our program; our aim is to produce dogs who are healthy and a great example of the breed’s temperament and conformation. We are members of the Australian Labradoodle Association of America (ALAA) and strictly follow their code of ethics.

The first 16 weeks of a puppy’s development sets the tone for its behavior as an adult dog. The more puppies are exposed to different sensory experiences and socialization, the better companion dogs they will become. Puppies who have a positive experience when they hear the noise of vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, and beeping cars, for example, will not be afraid of these loud noises later on. Puppies who play with children and all kinds of different adults will be outgoing and friendly.

Our dogs live in our house and during the first 8 to 9 weeks when the puppies are here, we let them experience a variety of situations which will help them become trusting and confident adult dogs. We also familiarize our puppies with the crate and begin potty training.

We love what we do and we are passionate about our dogs and puppies! It gives us enormous satisfaction to know that a labradoodle will bring as much joy into your life as it did into ours. Thank you for considering True North and please get in touch if you have any questions.
