Adoption Process
1 - Fill Out Application Form
The first step is to submit an application. Due to the high volume of emails we receive, we are not able to contact you if we do not receive an application. The information you give us on your application will help us match you with a puppy who is a good fit with your family and lifestyle, so please take the time to answer the questions carefully.
We will contact you via email within 5 days to ask for any clarifications and to answer any questions you may have.
We do not keep a waiting list. If we do not have availability at the time you submit your application, keep checking our website and social media for announcements. Things are always changing and should a puppy become available he will be offered first to those families who have already submitted an application and in the order the application was received.
2 - Reservation Fee
Once your application has been approved, you will pay a $500 reservation fee and we will add your name to our reservation list.
Your name will not be added to the list without a fee payment.
This reservation fee is non-refundable.
We reserve the right to keep puppies from any litter for our program.
We reserve the right to refuse to sell a puppy to anyone and for any reason. In this case, your reservation fee will be returned.
3 - Birth Announcement
We will contact families to share the good news when the liter is born.
When the puppies are 3 weeks old, we will post pictures online as often as we can and we will send you weekly updates so that you can follow the litter's development. These weekly emails will have information about how to get ready to bring your puppy home, nutrition, training, and socialization.
4 - Visitation
Between weeks 5 and 7, your family will come to visit the puppies and we will meet in person. This is an important part of the process and the whole family should come. The $3,000 balance payment must be done at this time. We only accept payment by personal check.
Between weeks 7 and 8, puppies will go to the vet for a thorough health exam and will have a temperament test administered by a professional trainer.
5 - Matching Puppies & Families
Once we have the results of the health exam and temperament test, we will match puppies and families and will contact you to let you know who is your new family member. You can read about the matching process here. We give this process much time and consideration and it's important that you understand and agree with this method.
6 - SpaySecure and Trupanion Insurance
Our puppies go home on a spay/neuter contract. After you have been matched with your puppy, you will receive a contract from SpaySecure. We use this company to collect the required neuter/spay proof before the puppy is 9 months old. You will need to sign their contract before pick up day. You can read more about them here.
You will also receive information on how to register for a one month free accidental plan with Trupanion Insurance. This is an invaluable benefit because most pet insurances require a one month grace period before going into effect and you will have your puppy insured the minute you take him home. You don't need to give a credit card number -- just call to register within 24 hours of bringing your puppy home.
7 - Pick Up Day
Puppies go home when they are 8 to 9 weeks old.
